This is a place where we will post great party ideas and encourage our readers to share their own. As a mother of two, I am quite familiare with the challenges presented by throwing parties that will be fun and create lasting memories for our children.

When my son Max turned 3 it was all about Thomas the Tank Engine. We had every train ever made, I think, and he spent every waking hour playing with them. In the spirit of creating that special party, I spent 5 long hours laboring over a 5-car train cake that extended the full length of my kitchen table. He loved it so much I did it again when he was 4 (but decided 3 cars was enough). I know first hand what a labor of love it is to create a truly special party for your child. I got lots of compliments on that cake and as laborious as it was I would do it all again to see the smile on my baby's face!

One day I will post a recipe and some pictures of that train cake, but for now I'll sign off on post #1. Please use this as a forum to share your ideas and collect new ones.

Heather
